“I don’t know what to preach, but it will be great.”
Those were the words whispered to my interpreter as we climbed the stairs to the platform in Jihlava, Czech Republic, during an outdoor event.
Earlier that afternoon, the organizer of the outreach had talked with me about what kind of preaching he preferred that evening. He said, “Please preach the gospel and do an altar call.” Everything inside of me resonated with that, so I agreed. In this, I recognized the peace of God.
However, it turned out that the person who had the microphone right before me actually preached the gospel and did an altar call as well.
In the back of my mind, a small discussion started. My logical reasoning said, “Tim, don’t do it. They just heard the gospel. You’re wasting your time.”
But my spiritual man said, “Tim, trust the peace the Holy Spirit has given you.”
To make a long story short, I chose to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit.
As I opened my mouth, words began to flow. The message I preached was quite different from the one I had prepared. Nevertheless, when I did an altar call, people received Christ.
Wow. What a confirmation. Always stay faithful to God’s voice. Don’t let circumstances guide you, but His Word.
