Sometimes God uses the most ordinary moments to reveal His extraordinary love.
During the COVID pandemic, a simple walk through my neighborhood reminded me again that being equipped to live isn’t about programs or platforms—it’s about availability. When believers live with open eyes and open hearts, everyday streets can become places of divine encounter.
Respecting Hearts, Even When They Say No
I noticed an elderly couple walking hand in hand and felt prompted to start a conversation. It flowed naturally, and soon I shared about God’s love for them. They listened respectfully and told me about their Christian background.
They also shared that they had stepped away from their faith. What troubled them most was the idea of a religion claiming its God to be the only God. After some time, they kindly suggested ending the conversation so they could continue their walk.
I respected their boundary completely.
Living the gospel includes honoring people’s freedom. Love never forces—it invites.
A Little Humor Opens the Door
After crossing the street, I encountered two teenagers standing in a way that completely blocked the sidewalk. It was clear they were dealing soft drugs at that moment. I decided to simply say hello and test the atmosphere.
To ease the tension, I joked:
“Don’t worry, I won’t push you to the other side of the sidewalk to keep our social distance.”
They laughed. The tension instantly disappeared.
Moments like this remind us that connection often begins with kindness, humility, and a willingness to meet people where they are.
“Jesus Is Still Healing Today”
I then asked a simple but powerful question:
“Has anyone told you today that God loves you?”
They said no.
So I told them about God’s unconditional love.
As we continued talking, I felt led to share something specific:
“Jesus is still alive today, and He is still healing people.”
The girl immediately responded,
“Do you think Jesus would want to heal my back pain too?”
“Of course,” I said.
I prayed for her—simply, trusting Jesus to do what only He can do.
As soon as the prayer ended, she jumped to the other side of the sidewalk, eyes wide open.
“This is scary!” she said.
“All the pain is gone.”
Healing That Opens Hearts to the Gospel
That moment changed everything. The healing opened the door for the gospel.
Both teenagers became fully open to hear about Jesus. The young man asked if I could pray for a difficult situation in his family. I prayed and blessed him. Before leaving, he thanked me—four times.
After he left, I stayed a little longer with the girl. I was able to explain more about who Jesus is and pray with her again.
When it was time to say goodbye, her face had changed.
She hadn’t only received physical healing—she had encountered the living Lord.
Equipped to Live in Everyday Moments
This walk reminded me that being equipped to live means recognizing that any place can become holy ground—a sidewalk, a conversation, a simple prayer.
God doesn’t wait for church buildings or perfect circumstances.
He responds to willing hearts.
And often, it starts with one simple question:
“Has anyone told you today that God loves you?”
